Born in Gallatin, TN, and raised in Southern Indiana, Sandy Powell was one of four siblings reared by God-fearing parents. Sandy's dad was a full time truck driver, but on the side, built a home recording studio, where she and her sister began recording their first records before they were even in school. The girls followed their parent's footsteps into the music industry as Sandy's dad continued to fashion their home recording studio where artists from around the country would come to capture a recording of their voice or talent. Sandy's mother, Patty, was also an entertainer and singer, and this is where the girls got their roots.

During their ripe ole' age of grade school years, professionalism was no stranger to the Powell sisters, who were regionally known for hosting their own radio show, numerous appearances on television, releasing records, and doing live performances throughout the country side.

In her teen years, Sandy sang with multiple pop, country, and rock-n-roll bands, while being embedded in the word of God through her Methodist, Sunday school, days of youth.

After high-school graduation, Sandy found herself in Dallas, TX, where she initially toured with Charlie Pride as a background singer, but was noticed by manager Jim Prater, who saw stardom potential. Within a few years, Sandy was launched into her own solo career and traveled throughout the world bringing her ten-piece show to audiences who loved her, where even at an early age, that potential for drawing crowds was there.

While residing in Dallas, TX, Sandy was asked to represent Mac Trucks as the Mac Truck poster girl, and today, at many truck stops throughout the nation, you will occasionally find Sandy in a Tarzan styled leather pelt, which she was fondly known for wearing in her Tina Turner approach to country music.

In the midst of all the glamour and entertainment, Sandy's heart was rooted in a strong belief system of the Lord and His ways, and then...

...a passionate new journey began for former country music singer, Sandy Powell, when she first heard the voice of the Lord. As revelation began its process to shape Sandy's thinking from entertainer to prophet, the Lord was creating a sphere of listeners who hungered to hear the Lord's voice and the plans He has for them. "Surely the sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing His plans to His servants, the Prophets." Amos 3:7

Apostolically called to launch and oversee the raising up of a prophetic army, Sandy began to teach in 2000. Simultaneously, a non-profit ministry was created through the urging of a newly formed board, advisors and Pastors that Sandy submitted her calling and ideas to. Former Pastors Richard Reeves and Dr. Joe Bailey, and the Indiana Company of the Prophetic headed up by Meinrad Sprigler, became the men and the women that spoke into Sandy's life in the early days of her emerging. Today, Sandy continues to walk with these and the group of Godly businessmen that the Lord formed and still operate today as the PowerHouse Ministries Board. Sandy's husband, Jim Prater, serves as Vice President of PowerHouse Ministries and carries out the massive work accomplished through the provision arm of the ministry to the poor and needy.

With her heart to worship and an unflagging Spirit of optimism, Sandy Powell reminds all believers that they have the potential to prophesy. "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy,..." Acts 2:17. Her hands-on style of ministry training has become a catalyst for drawing people from around the country to attend her classroom equipping and Ministry Outreaches. Hundreds of emerging ministers and disciples have emerged through the wineskin of Sandy Powell and PowerHouse Ministries as was made evident in 2007 when Sandy went into the Titans Stadium on 7/7/07 with more than 600 prophetically trained ministers by her side to minister for Lou Engle and the Call.

Signs and wonders often accompany the prophecies and power packed messages this revivalist brings to audiences everywhere. One of Sandy's first documented testimonies of miracles caused Sandy to stop and take note as the Lord activated a healing gift Sandy did not recognize she even possessed. Both of Sandy's parents, also worshipers, have had testimonies of miraculous healings in their own lives, which Sandy attributes to the generation of healing that has happened both to her and others she prays for.

Students that apply and are accepted into the PHM School of Ministry are trained and activated in many of the gifts of the Spirit, including prophecy, healing, deliverance, wisdom, discernment, and dream interpretation.

A graduate of Bailey Bible Institute and Ordained through Richard Reeves and World Bible Way Fellowship, Sandy resides in Bethpage, TN where she and her husband own and operate the Prophet's Quarters, a Bed & Breakfast facility located on the outskirts of Nashville, TN. They are also members of Belmont Church on Music Row, in Nashville, TN, where all of the PowerHouse Ministries regional classes and events take place.

Sandy is currently working on several new written and recorded projects she hopes to release in the Spring of 2010.

In her Prophetic Training Manual
"Understanding and Activating Prophetic Ministry"
Dr. Sandy Powell writes ...

"Once you've known the sound of the Lord calling you to something beyond yourself, a path you never knew existed becomes apparent. Your goal is to experience more of Him. Where He is, is where you want to be. Where He is, is where you want to lead others."
